Recycling: A Slippery Slope

Bakke1Copenhagen has plans for an energy recycling plant with a twist… and a few gentle slopes. The plant has been named Amager Bakke (Bakke meaning hill) and will provide the local community with both recycled head, energy and a ski slope.

Standing at 85m in height the Amager Bakke has been playfully designed with the snow season in mind, but its environmental qualifications are serious. The building is intended to produce heat for 160,000 homes and electricity for 62, 500, and will produce more clean water than it uses.
