The campus was developed by Emperor Sallasie I in 1971, excising part of his palace grounds.

Ethiopia is one of the most vulnerable countries with reference to climate change due to floods/drought, & a reliance on subsistence agriculture.  

Fortunately, more than 90% of in-country power generation is via renewable energies (hydro & wind)

Also, in response to climate change, Professor Esayas G.yohannes is leading civil engineering research projects on calcined clay geopolymers, & cane mill fly ash for use as a replacement for CO2 intensive Portland Cement.
