We are proud to have worked with Cairns-based architects, People Oriented Design (POD), on the Department of Housing and Homelessness’ Precinct Revitalisation Program. The project encompassed sites spread across QLD (including Hervey Bay, Bundaberg & Rockhampton) – with the overall goal of improving the livability, security, sustainability, and durability of public housing buildings.
BE Collective’s multi-disciplined commission included Structural, Civil, and Building Services engineering in support of upgrades & refurbishments to the existing façade, landscape, and structures. Façade treatments were implemented in support of enhanced privacy and amenity was improved via landscape solutions. Roofs were also upgraded across the sites.
We are happy to play a part in improving the quality of life for tenants by providing innovative solutions to contemporary public housing needs.

One of our latest projects has been gaining media attention, including a mention in The Chronicle. BEC was commissioned by Toowoomba Regional Council for the provision of hands-on Project Management Services. Our secondment into TRC to assist with the delivery of multiple council projects included the Empire Theatre Refurbishment Works. The $6.32M program of major maintenance and refurbishment of the iconic Empire Theatre is currently underway and attracting attention. Take a look at some of the projects’ gorgeous photos from the MBQ awards entry below.
Our Brisbane Transit Centre project was delivered alongside long term Clients (& facade experts) Locker Group – for whom we provided structural design services for the new Brisbane Transit Centre facade. The design involved perforated aluminium panels fixed to a horizontal steel member, which had to withstand a 1-in-250-year wind event.
