The Hornsby Aquatic & leisure Centre located in Hornsby NSW is home to a range of facilities for the local community including a heated pool, indoor & outdoor lap & leisure pools for various training programs to host aquatic classes, squad training & swimming lessons for children.
This indoor & outdoor Aquatic Centre includes a 50m lap pool & a 25m Learners & Leisure pool. The 50m pool concourse cantilevered 3m over the embankment. The pool is a substantial size, spanning over 8m in each direction. The indoor 25m Leisure pool is enclosed by a structural steel tubular trussed rafter. To minimise shrinkage cracking, the detailing of the concrete in the pool was substantial, meaning the concrete pool wall sections are over 1m thick. Extensive water testing of pool structures & pool concourses are made to ensure the structure is waterproof.
There is special detailing of the waterstops at structural expansion joints to ensure the long-term waterproof capability of the pools & concourses. All pools & gutters are membraned & tiled & Ultra-Fine Filtration filters are used for all pool facilities. Additionally, there is an onsite sodium hypochlorite generator used to eliminate traditional bulk delivery of sodium hypochlorite.
