Each year, during the first week of July, communities across Australia come together to celebrate NAIDOC Week—a time to honour the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
NAIDOC Week invites all Australians to deepen their understanding of First Nations cultures and histories and to celebrate the strength and richness of the world’s oldest continuing cultures. Through local and national events, it’s a powerful opportunity to learn, connect, and show support.
This year marks a significant milestone—50 years of NAIDOC celebrations—with the 2025 theme:
“The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy.”
This theme celebrates the achievements of past generations, the leadership and vision of young Indigenous people today, and the enduring legacy of those who have paved the way. It highlights a community-led future grounded in resilience, independence, and cultural pride, as championed by the National NAIDOC Committee.
At the BEC UAE Office, we are proud to display a beautiful artwork by Indigenous artist Kehaan Lange-McGuire, also known as Djiti Djiti. Kehaan and his family are part of the Wardandi Noongar people—coastal people of the South West of Western Australia, also known as the place of the dolphin dreaming. His work draws inspiration from the ocean and land of this region, reflecting deep cultural connection and storytelling through art.
Let’s take this time to listen, learn, and engage and to celebrate the ongoing leadership, brilliance, and cultural strength of the next generation.
