Circle Garden Shelter Installation

cir1The Circle Garden Shelter installation piece was conceived by Sou Fujimoto Architects to foster communication & engagement – allowing people to connect following on from a disaster event. The work  features a series of dwellings and communal planes which connect and surround a garden space.
For the inhabitants the the garden becomes a place of reflection and also a gathering/meeting place.
The concept called for the dwellings to be made from timber monocoque tube-like elements , which telescope and nest into each other for ease of transport.

Sou Fujimoto’s work would typically be considered to fall within the ‘White’ genre of Japanese architecture – and it was a great honour to work with such an internationally acclaimed architect. (more…)
