BEC was commissioned to provide comprehensive structural engineering services for the development of eight advanced poultry sheds in Western Australia. Each shed spans 175 metres in length & is designed to withstand the region’s challenging environmental conditions, including high corrosion potential & thermal stress.
The project encompasses the design of concrete slabs, foundations, & bespoke steel framing systems, all tailored to achieve a 50-year design life. Given the corrosive environment, special attention was paid to material selection & protective measures to ensure long-term durability.
Scope of Works:
- Structural Design: Comprehensive engineering of slabs, foundations, & custom steel framing to accommodate large-scale poultry operations.
- Construction Phase Consultancy: Ongoing support & inspections during the construction phase to ensure adherence to design specifications & quality standards.
- Environmental Considerations: Design adaptations to address the high-corrosion environment, including material selection & protective coatings.
- Integration with M&E Systems: Close coordination with mechanical & electrical teams to facilitate seamless installation of equipment & systems.
