Darwin Wave Pool

Darwin Waterfront cooperation hosts a large array of indoor & outdoor precincts including the project focus which was devised around the wave & recreation lagoons.

Built as a part of the Darwin Waterfront Project, this Boogie Board Wave Pool is the largest wave pool in Australia, & at the time of design, is one of only six wave pools in the world. The pool is 2m in depth & covers 4,000 square meters, including an area with more shallow water. The waves run on a cycle, with 10 different wave patterns for all types of swimmers & boogie boarders.

GNFP (BEC) was responsible for the pool’s structure, wave plant, pool filtration, mechanical & hydraulic services. The 1.2m high boogie board wave is produced by pneumatic systems by Murphy Waves & Services designed by VOS Group.

Alice Springs Aquatic Centre

#The Alice Springs Aquatic Centre was a GNFP (BEC) multi-disciplined project featuring designed building structures, aquatic engineering & civil engineering. The Alice Springs Aquatic Centre is a major indoor & outdoor aquatic & leisure centre that holds multiple unique features within its design.

It includes an 8 lane 25m lap pool, which is commonly used for competitions. The GNFP (BEC) was also responsible for the unique leisure pool with zero-level beach entry, rapid river, in-pool spa, & two large waterslides. The leisure pool is great for learn to swim classes, & other warm & shallow-water activities. The centre also has a roof light with a steel truss spanning over 36m.
