Indoor Aquatic Centre including 50m, 25m Learners and Leisure pool with car parking beneath built over a steep embankment. Indoor 25m Learners and Leisure pool enclosed by structural steel tubular trussed roof. The entire building and pools are suspended over a 100 car space car park. 50m pool concourse cantilevered 3m over the embankment. Pool structure spans over 8m in each direction over car parking with up to 1m deep beams. Detailing of concrete pool structure to minimise shrinkage cracking through very substantial concrete pool wall sections over 1m thick. Extensive water testing of pool structures and pool concourses to ensure the waterproofness of the structure. The special detailing of water stops at structural expansion joints ensure the long-term waterproofness of the pools and concourses. All pools and gutters are membraned and tiled. Extensive use of precast beams and slabs to enable ease of construction of the car park, plant rooms and ramp entrance over the steep embankment. Ultra Fine Filtration filters are used for all pools. Onsite sodium hypochlorite generator used to eliminate traditional bulk delivery of sodium hypochlorite.
